How much salary do MPs get?
MPs also get many other facilities along with salary. Let us tell you that under the Members of Parliament (Salary, Allowance and Pension) Act 1954, salary and other facilities are given to an MP. According to the information, the MP gets Rs 1 lakh as salary in a month. Apart from this, a new rule was implemented from April 1, 2023, under which the salary and daily allowance of MPs will be increased after every five years. An MP is given a separate allowance for attending a session of a house or a committee meeting or for travelling for any work related to a Member of Parliament. When an MP travels by road, he gets a separate allowance of Rs. 16 per kilometer.
Household Allowance
Apart from this, an MP gets Rs. 70,000 every month as constituency allowance. An MP does not have to pay any charge for getting a telephone installed at his residence in Delhi or his office in Delhi. The government bears the cost of all these bills. He gets the facility of fifty thousand free local calls. An MP gets Rs. 60,000 every month as office expense allowance.
Health facilities
Let us tell you that an MP is also given a pass, with the help of which he can travel by railway for free at any time. This pass is valid in the first class AC or executive class of any train. MPs are also given government allowance when they travel abroad for government work. Apart from this, every MP also gets medical facility. If an MP undergoes treatment or operation in any government or private hospital after referral, the government bears the entire cost of that treatment. Apart from this, MPs also get security personnel and care-takers at government expense.
